At Buzz Chew CADILLAC, our car experts want to help you keep your vehicle in optimal condition. There are many components of your vehicle that will need to be replaced with wear, such as brake pads.Brake pads are important because they act as a buffer between the rotor and brake caliper. The brake caliper squeezes the rotor when you press your foot on the brake pedal, which causes an excessive amount of friction. Most manufacturers recommend having brake pads replaced every 50,000 miles. If you notice a squealing or clicking noise, or the brake pedal vibrates when it’s pressed, then you may need to have your brake pads replaced sooner. When it’s time to replace your brake pads, then be sure to stick with brand names if possible, and check that the manufacturer adheres to the FMSI brake standard. In addition, make sure that the brake pads you choose have factory style shims.
